Last Day To Register To Vote

The last day to register to vote for the Texas Democratic Primary Election is Monday, February 3, 2020. To be eligible to register to vote in Harris County, one must:

  • • Be 18 years or older
  • • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • • Be a resident in Harris County

You may obtain a voter registration form by completing, downloading, and printing a form here. You can also request a form by emailing your mailing address and phone number to voters@hctx.net or by calling (713) 274-8683.


Early Voting

Early voting for the Texas Democratic Primary Election begins on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 and ends on Friday, February 28, 2020. Voters will be able to cast their ballot at any early voting location in Harris County. To view early voting locations and hours click here!

Election Day

Election day for the Texas Democratic Primary is on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Polling locations on Election Day will be open from 7:00 am - 7:00 pm. Harris County registered voters CAN VOTE AT ANY VOTING CENTER within the county. To view Election Day voting centers and your sample ballot, click here.


Voting By Mail

Eligible voters who are 65 years of age or older, disabled, out of the county, or confined in jail (without an active felony conviction) can request a vote by mail application before Friday, February 21, 2020 (received by 5p, not postmarked). You can request a vote by mail application by visiting txdem.co/VBMApp. Complete the online form, download it, sign it, mail it to the address below.

Please note, the law has changed. To be effective, an application for ballot by mail submitted by FAX or EMAIL must also be submitted by mail and be received by the early voting clerk not later than the fourth business day after the transmission by fax or email is received. (TEC 84.007).



Voter ID Requirements

If you have one of the following forms of acceptable photo ID, you must bring it with you when you vote in person:

-Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)

-Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS

-Texas personal identification card issued by DPS

-Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS

-United States military identification card containing the voter’s photograph

-United States citizenship certificate containing the voter’s photograph

-United States passport (book or card)
